The poems in this collection that I enjoyed the most usually mentioned his family... One wonderful line--"I was a new husband, poised to fail/you & you an anarchy of desires." He was a poetry professor of mine many years ago so I will read his work whenever I can find it.

Here is one of the great NY School of Poets James Schuyler. Simon Pettet and James Meetze did a fine job of editing "Jimmy" poems. A must read for lovers of the NY School of poetics. I just wish, it is the librarian in me, that the Farrar, Straus & Giroux would have put in more biography of Schuyler works in the preface. Also, where is Mr. Meetze background? Teacher, professor, editor? Left out? When I tell patrons of new books, I stress the who, when, where, how, of author or editor. IT gives the reader more information to go on and to the read further, other books by the same author. I am just being a librarian. Borrow this book, read, or buy it for you NY poetics crowd.
