Review # 1 was written on 2009-10-10 00:00:00 Edward Brown Jordan Paper covers the complex notions of Shaman versus Trance-medium-ship, with superb storytelling skills. He also looks at the intersection of what he calls 'zero' meditation praxis from a cross-cultural point of view, which is potent and well informed by his own experiences. This is an excellent book for thinking about Chinese religion in practice. |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-08-01 00:00:00 Michael Holden Never realized how much of my concept of Chinese religion was informed by western Christian biases (I mean. I didn't realize to what extent). Was particularly fascinated by the chapter on Christianity interpreted through a Chinese cultural lens. |
