Review # 1 was written on 2019-02-14 00:00:00 Janet Torge I gave this 4 stars because I would read it again, and I enjoyed the content, and I do own it (all my criteria for 4 and 5 stars), but I came away annoyed as though it was a 3 star or lower. Mostly, because of Thomas’ (author) insistence to refer to black people as “my people”. Your proud to be black...so am I.....now write your book! The content and use of evidentiary letters and documents, really brought that time alive. My wife and I had many discussions sparked by the content of this book, because it is rich and easily consumed. It is a snapshot of the struggle for equal rights and liberties. I never say this about a book, but I wished it were longer. (2002) |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-08-05 00:00:00 Kenneth Maxfield Jr Great nonfiction book. This book can be interactive with pull out like letters, pamphlets, extended pages, photographs, maps, etc. This book is for high level student concerning the text size and content. A great book to reference or read regarding civil rights. |
