This was a very informative book. The words were larger and with the pictures included I would recommend this to children around third grade. The book describes what food chain is and uses examples from the sea to show how it works. I find this book helpful and believe it would be helpful used within a classroom.

What Are Food Chains and Webs? by Bobbie Kalman, is an informative text that discusses the food chain, food web, and ecological communities. Not only does this book have great vocabulary words, it also provides a glossary in the back of the book. This book uses real photographs of the animals and plants that enhance the text. The pages are also very colorful and the information is easy for kids to understand. This book would inspire a lesson for my students to complete a KWL chart. Before reading the text, the students will fill out “What I know” and “What I want to know.” Then after reading the book, the students will fill out “What I learned” section on their paper.
