This was a well-rounded collection of Native American stories, grouped by theme from Creation to things around us, and the natural world. The collection is made up of stories from diverse Native American tribes in all regions, told in a simple, oral tradition narrative style (which was a welcomed refreshment in style), and each story features, as an added bonus, activities for young readers and their families to further advance the message and meaning in the story using simple project and the natural world around us. To the technology dependent crowd the projects themselves may appear dated, however, for those seeking to spend quality time with their offspring are quite engaging and easy to relate to. The book could serve as a nice introduction to traditional storytelling, and to the Native American legends. Being from diverse tribes, reading the stories could open the door to further discussion about pre-colonial America, conservation, et cetera. The book would make a nice teaching tool for younger readers, who would find the stories and projects engaging. A very enjoyable, valuable read.

Great curriculum book for reading Indigenous myths to kids. Every story has activities you can pair with it, usually environmentally themed. I really like the stories. E.g. Coyote takes back a gift that he gave to a big rock, so the rock chases him down and rolls over and flattens him. It's funny, it has a moral, it has a beginning, middle and end. The stories in this book are satisfying to read. (This summer I read some stories from Thirty Indian Legends of Canada, but they seemed really random at times and could leave the reader confused.) This would work well in homeschool. I'll come back to it when my kids are a bit older.
