Walkthrough the streets as you go on tour with the section of the book called "A Walking Tour" Read about the original and unique shops and restaurants from the days before mass consumerism. Learn about the amazing galleries and performing spaces back when the cultural environment was raw with creativity. Sweatshops, shipping companies, b2b companies intermingling and existing side by side with the people who lead the wave and pushed the envelope of bleeding-edge art. SoHo, as my friend Jason Long, said many years ago is not a place but a time. And that time is exquisitely captured in this book which I was truly blessed to catch the tail end of. If you were around in New York when the Max's Kansas City, CBGB, the Pyramid Club, and Danceteria were either just opening or in full swing then you will love to be transported back. If not then you get to experience for the first time and paint your own picture. One of the best books on the subject. Godspeed time travelers.
