This is a collection of letters written by pet owners who have recently lost their pets. I found it difficult to read. Some of the letters describe situations where pets suffered for far too long before they were euthanized. One was written by someone who sounds like an animal hoarder. Some of the other letters were hard to read because of the lack of support given to the person by either their own families or by the veterinary staff. Some are just very heart-breaking and sad to read. Some were written by people whose pets have disappeared and describe how difficult it is to mourn a pet when you don't know what happened to it. Reading some of them did help me feel like there are others who have been through what I am going through and I was able to relate to their grief.

I read this book after recently putting our family pet to sleep. This book definitely helped show that there are many people out there who have experienced the loss that my family is currently going through and that some of my emotions are a normal part of the grieving process. This book also made me even more grateful for the time that I had with Lucky and that I have many friends and family who have been wonderful during this time, unlike others who lacked the support that they needed.
