Very old tales, many of which have not stood the test of time.

This books a legend about the Pomo Native Americans and the coyote's quest to find water for the village during a drought. This is a legend/myth because the story is deeply rooted in the culture's history and beliefs, despite recognizing its truth or accuracy. I selected this book because it incorporates the traditional literature style with Native Americans, and could be used to build cultural awareness and understanding of the students. It could be used on a unit about various Native Americans and the importance of legends to their culture.
