Review # 1 was written on 2016-08-23 00:00:00 Karen Mcloughlin In the early 1980s, Nick Garland spent several weeks in India. This book reflects the things he saw, the people he met, and his thoughts and feelings about them. Wish I had some of the experiences he had and met some of the very interesting people he met. He is enchanted by India even though he sees the poverty, crowded conditions, etc. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-05-09 00:00:00 Andrew Smith An Indian Journal is an honest and observational look at India, taking you around many of the obvious tourist sights, whilst also unpeeling the inner workings of this fascinating country. It's complemented by the author's drawings which give the book an extra entertaining touch. I had to chuckle at the beginning when Nicholas Garland telephoned his young son, Alexander, who would later go on to be one of my favourite authors. |
