Review # 1 was written on 2012-07-11 00:00:00 Francisco Javier Herranz Sanchez A well-written chronicle of one of Poland's greatest heroes, a man virtually unknown in the U.S. The author, Jedrzejewicz, knew Pilsudski well, as an officer in the Polish army during WWI and in several positions during the Pilsudski regime. There are excellent descriptions of Pilsudski's great train robbery, his role in WWI, the battle of Warsaw which routed the Bolsheviks, and his 1926 coup. From his eulogy: Pilsudski gave Poland freedom, boundaries, power and respect. It is fascinating for me to read about WWI, Versailles and other events from the Polish viewpoint. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-04-10 00:00:00 Danielle Fayette I just added this to our children's library. It's too advanced for my 4-year-old, but I think it would be perfect for the 5-9 crowd. I love just about any poem by Robert Frost, but this is a particularly precious illustrated version of a poem that offers an antidote to commercialism in the Christmas season. |
