Review # 1 was written on 2015-08-17 00:00:00 Ann Rose It is seriously so hard to find a correct account for Alexander. Every source I have come across contradicts each other; some say Hephaestion was his lover, others say they were just friends. Some say he married once, others say he married three times. Some say he died a year/8 months/1 month after Hephaestion. Did he actually have all of his half-brothers/father killed? No one really knows, but I wish everyone's stories would add up because every scholar says something different. Urgh. |

I was very pleased that the author left out a lot of the political scandal/intrigue about his father's assassination because it's all hear-say, we don't know for sure who ordered the hit. While I admire the guy's ambition, he should have learned when enough was enough and he probably would have lived, but then I guess if you're Alexander the great and think that you're descendant of a God, then enough is never enough? |
