Review # 1 was written on 2009-12-20 00:00:00 Kevin Shorten This is an extraordinary document. Picked it up on our trip to Whogoslavia in 1997. It's a historic record, black comedy, a creative use of the guidebook format, an emotional floatation device, and a zine in spirit - originally conceived of and circulated during the Siege. Like most Americans, I have led an incredibly charmed life, but I can relate to the impulse to try to squeeze a creative project from one's daily reality. The resourcefulness of refugees, camp dwellers, prisoners, and besieged peoples makes an impression. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-04-01 00:00:00 John Luter Very interesting, darkly comic take on living in Sarajevo during the siege. Really makes clear the suffering of the population, as well as the impotence of the international community's attempts to aid Sarajevo's residents. |
