If you're at all a fan of Sega's 16-bit era, if you read the likes of "Console Wars" or "Service Games: The Rise and Fall of Sega", if you're at all interested in gaming history instead of just playing the latest and greatest, you're the person upon whose shelf this book belongs. While it was published by Prima as part of their "Secrets of the Games" label, this isn't a strategy guide. It's a 128-page trip through what goes into creating a Sega Genesis game. It's not a technical manual or a how-to, so you won't be laying out tilemaps and coding an engine in Assembly Language once you're through with it. It's a layman's terms (actually young adult layman's terms) walkthrough of everything from the initial pitch and design document phases up through art design, sound work, and Quality Assurance. It tells, rather than shows, if you will, using Disney's Aladdin, Jurassic Park, Eternal Champions, and Earthworm Jim among others for examples. For the more technically-minded, there's an Appendix that explains a bit more in-depth about the nuts and bolts of programming a video game, but again, this is an information guide, not a teaching guide. It's still cool. The main downside to this is its expense. In 1995, this book had a $14.95 cover price. Today, you'll fork over more than four times as much if you want a physical copy. The ebook released in 2015 is only seven dollars, and I applaud Prima's decision to re-release this one digitally, because it's gotten stupidly expensive on the secondhand market. While it's a great book, you'll kick yourself if you drop the current asking price on it--it's cool, but it's not that cool.

This book doesn't have any information which I haven't read before. If you have been questioning pharma industry and exploring alternative medicines, you could have read this information before. But, still well-organized and reiterating for me personally, definitely a good start for people new to such ideas.
