Review # 1 was written on 2021-02-04 00:00:00 Craig Corrigan As always, FalconGuides are an excellent place to start when trying to plan for a hiking trip. However, this book seemed to have a disporportionate number of backpacking hikes, and even the apparent day hikes were on the long side (10+ miles over 'moderately strenuous' terrain seemed to be the norm for these). Now, I have never been to Olympic National Park, and it might just be that these are just the hikes that are there, but it would have been nice to see a bit more variety. I'm from the east coast and learned from Yosemite that a 10+ mile here is nowhere near comparable to a 10+ mile hike on the west coast's mountains. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-10-16 00:00:00 Sylvie Laflamme All long hikes....you need a backpacking guide, ice cleats, and a pick axe to complete most these hikes that have, on average, a 3,000 foot vertical climb...marketed as a mass market hikers guide, it's not, rather; it's a complete waste of money. But, if you wanna try to meet Bigfoot and eat bear dung...this book is for you. Stick to the free OMP website unless you are a backpacker. I want my money back! |
