Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-18 00:00:00 Gonzalo Solario Jr This is an area that I have not explored much by backpacking. I have had the opportunity to do some off-road trips in the Jawbone Canyon area (Butterbredt Springs is an excellent birding site), as well as in the Kern River area (kayaking and day hikes). However I would really like to explore some of the backpack trips in the Sequoia National Park described in this book, especially those hikes covering the Golden Trout Wilderness! |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-10-25 00:00:00 Jim Bellman This book includes an interesting section on the natural history of Yosemite and excellent trail descriptions from what we could tell. We hiked and camped on one less-popular trail and it was useful to have some of the descriptions and landmarks as described in the book (because we only talked with a volunteer ranger who was unfamiliar with the trail). The descriptions of the popular hikes we did were also interesting and accurate- it was awesome to know the names for some of the wildflowers we saw. |
