Review # 1 was written on 2012-03-13 00:00:00 Liam Michaels The humour in this book will appeal mainly to librarians, catalogers and techies who remember the technology of the days before internet use was widespread. That being said, this was a good effort to make library humor accessible to the layperson. The author/illustrator offers a tip of the hat to children's literature ("Through the Cathode Tube" and "Where the Wild Patrons Are"), horror films ("Dr. Colophon's Little Library of Horrors") and pop culture ("Twilib Zone") among others. The quality of the drawing is perhaps not amazing--the author refers to it modestly as doodling--and yet it manages to raise some chuckles. The type (dubbed "Handman Erratic" in the note on the final page) can at times be a bit of a strain on the midddle-aged eye, but is not without its charm. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-09-01 00:00:00 Sharon Carpenter A wonderfully humorous read for older librarians. Hope to find a couple of used copies for retiring librarian colleagues. Let me know if you have one in very good condition or similar to sell. |
