Review # 1 was written on 2015-07-02 00:00:00 Alexander Mortimer I picked this book up hoping to learn how to properly use my analog synthesizer, but the book taught me little about music. The author took a route of explaining the specifics of how a handful of software synthesizer interfaces can be used in excruciating step-by-step detail while glossing over important components of synthesizers, like filters. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-12-12 00:00:00 Nah Son I wasn't expecting a book that would unlock all of the complexities of Beethoven and Mozart, and I wasn't disappointed in that respect. What I got was a beginner's reference to composers, some of their outstanding works (and quality recordings), and a brief history of the art. The book led me to Dvorak's 8th and 9th Symphonies and the works of Charles Ives, so there's no way it gets less than four stars. For a better introduction to the complexities of the music, check out the wonderful Yale Open Course: Listening to Music. |
