This was far and away the most practical 'how to' in mentoring/disciple making that I've read to date. Truth is, I learned at least as much about being a disciple as training up others. The book is so packed with biblical context that my plan is to go back through the book as a devotional, studying the references in greater detail. My recommendation is to not be in a hurry, and work your way through this book. It's not meant to be merely read...

For anyone looking to disciple or mentor/coach someone in the basics of the Christian faith, this is the fundamental book. In all my years of searching, I have never come across another book that does such a good job of blending step-by-step instructions, sound doctrine, and guidance on the relational aspect of discipleship. While some of the instruction uses sample dialogue that sounds dated to our ears, all the material is easily adaptable. While many books will give you the 'why' of discipleship, this is one of the very few that also give you the 'what' and 'how'. Highly recommended. I use it all the time.
