Hallelujah on two wheels! Full disclosure first - we are extremely fortunate to be publishing this fantastico biblio! We just received the advance copies from the printer and everything we'd been hoping for in terms of its final design, heft, photography, and most of all, instruction is abundant on every page. Author-cyclist extraordinaire Patrick Brady has achieved the book equivalent of an off-the-front breakaway, leaving all the other riders/writers well behind. Written for the cyclist who wants to get the most out of his or her bike, i.e., the most fun, the most "fast", and the most zip down the road of life. While it would definitely hold interest for a beginner, the ideal NDZ reader is the individual who's been on a bike for a summer or two and is looking to ramp up his or her experience overall. Patrick researched virtually every other how-to cycling book out there in order to make his unique. The difference is as noticeable as upgrading from your old Schwinn to a light-as-a-feather contemporary road bike. As a bike industry insider and all-around mensch, Patrick generously tips his helmet to many of these other titles, as well as notable magazines and websites, in the remarkable resource section in the back. This comprehensive survey of all available options is an approach is evident throughout and provides reassurance that you've found the right wheel to latch on to. The No-Drop Zone breaks out of the pack (or more precisely, the peloton) by describing the thrill of two wheels across The Experience, The Machine, The Lifestyle. With one or two photos on almost every one of the 250+ pages, key points are neatly described...then illustrated. Riding with a pro might be the only other way you could glean the same level of expertise -- but the trick there is that you have to keep up with Senor Speedy. With this book, you can flip forward, re-read, take it out out to the garage, have the book lay and stay flat due to the handy landscape format, and try out what you've just read. Here's what you'll notice most as you turn the pages: the insight described on the page morphs into the smiles (and occasional grimace mid-climb) on the HUNDREDS of cyclists pictured throughout. Cycling is a great social event - you can connect with friends, enjoy some fresh air and exercise, and be all the better for it. Grab your bike and get your copy today. Being one of the domestiques on a great book like this is what makes publishing such a fulfilling occupation. We hope that The No-Drop Zone brings a Grand Tour grin to thousands of readers...because the yellow jersey belongs to Patrick Brady!
