Review # 1 was written on 2019-02-03 00:00:00 Bruce Lodge A good selection of excerpts from various autobiography from famous ones like Fredrick Douglas and Booker T. Washington. And a good selection of cultures, backgrounds, and sexes that it is really impressive that all of these Autobiographies were written by Americans. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-05-03 00:00:00 Brian Lampkin Great collection of autobiographies serves as an introduction to the genre, as well as a glimpse into lower-middle class American life spanning the massive girth of time from the 15th century to the 21st. I still periodically re-visit certain pieces, such as Wright's masterpiece "Black Boy" and Thoreau's "Walden." This anthology again iterates that a nation's history can be taught and learned through a common man's anecdotes. |
