Review # 2 was written on 2010-12-07 00:00:00 Claus Durst The translation of a very interesting ancient Egyptian text--a conversation between a man contemplating his suicide and his ba. Unfortunately, the commentary and translation in this edition are highly suspect. The translator is dismissive of the entire field of Egyptology and is trying to use this text to synthesize with other world religions, including Christianity, to come up with some sort of unified philosophy. Nothing says this more clearly than thee illustrations interspersed with the text--Egyptian images not associated with this papyrus scattered about without commeentary, along with medieval drawings of John the Baptist and Jesus. ...?
