Review # 2 was written on 2016-08-30 00:00:00 S D Model This seems to be a response to The Cinderella Complex by Colette Dowling, for the author quotes Dowling repeatedly, sometimes to make a point and other times to argue against a point. The main idea of the book is to remind women that there really isn't such a thing as a "happily ever after". The first few chapters talk about the author's life, and the rest of the book focuses on other women's stories, Bible verses, and ways to combat the lies of fairy tale thinking and living your life in dream world. There are a few things that date the book, such as certain phrases or words used; also, at this time, Prince Charles and Princess Diana had just been married, and the author uses their wedding as an example. Much of the book really is about choosing a good attitude in spite of circumstances, to stop blaming people, God, or things, and to allow God to work in your life. Ultimately, it is about choosing to live in contentment in whatever your circumstances and not play the blame game. |
