Worth reading once. It’s an interesting topic and I learned about honey and beekeeping. But, this book has several flaws. First, it’s dated as the contents are nearly 20 years old and dated. Second, the organization is horrible. Jumps between random bits of history and lore and the present day of the book. Third, the writing becomes repetitive after a while, especially when going back to history and lore. Additionally, the tone is evangelical as the author preaches that we should love bees and honey as much as she does. That got old pretty quick. So, nice intro to honey and bees, but no staying power and a slightly irritating read.

Accessible. Easy writing style. Other writers could have been more scientific, but I would not have understood all they were saying. I understand what Ms Bishop is saying. Next time I read a bee book, I will choose one slightly more scientific and less memior. Great medical information included in the text. Some food recipes included at end, a sort of Appendix.
