Review # 1 was written on 2016-04-19 00:00:00 Patrick Peristeri Bachofen was well known for supporting the idea that there was an archaic matriarchal state, common to all ancient societies, that was over took by the patriarchal state and that this fight between patriarchy and matriarchy is present in mythological backgrounds. Even if modern academics from historian to archaeologists have proven that nothing like a Matriarchy existed in ancient societies like Greek, Roman, Celtic , Egyptian and others , Bachofen's book is worth reading and covers very interesting topics.

Review # 2 was written on 2016-09-15 00:00:00 Charles Waller More for Jungians to chew on. Of course any Jungian worth his or her salt who may be reading this review has already read this book.
