This is a compilation of three of her previous books on teaching children to write poetry. First published 1994, so not a recent book. It's a wonderful resource, full of games and activities that will get anyone writing poetry, and in that respect far more usable than Stephen Fry's The Ode Less Travelled. Some of the poems she quotes are wonderful -- they were written by Primary and Secondary children using her activities and suggestions. I've written this review because the two other reviews, both three stars and without comment, I think are inexplicably lukewarm. For anyone of any age who loves poetry, who wants to write it, and who wants to get young readers and writers excited about the creative possibilities of poetry writing, I can't recommend it too highly.

Hopkins is a poet and anthologist of poetry for young people. In this third edition he continues to help teachers and parents connect children and poetry. Excellent citations for useful books.
