Review # 1 was written on 2015-03-07 00:00:00 Mark Donoho I didn't really know much about the Matchless Six before. These are some very impressive women (and their coaches & supporters too) who really paved the way for the Olympics as we know it today. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-12-29 00:00:00 Bill Donaldson Wonderful story of six ladies competing in the 1928 Olympics as the country's very first women's Track & Field team. We are provided a brief history of each athlete and how she made this Olympic squad. Each with a very different background and personality, the reader is drawn to their enthusiasm and contributions to the team. Incidents throughout the story of commendable efforts are most entertaining. You feel as though you are in the stands or next to the track cheering them on! The outcomes are realistic (because they are!) yet not always predictable. I will share this book with other folks interested in sports, competition and especially Track and Field. |
