Review # 1 was written on 2008-07-23 00:00:00 Nikki Evans A book about Alaska and dogs--two of my favorite things. It was very entertaining. It ALMOST made me want to do the same thing with my dog--then I thought about all the walking . . . |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-05-28 00:00:00 torgeir breilid This book was my attempt to learn about Alaska, both the history and nuances of its people, before visiting. This was an unexpectedly good read. For one, it's great travel writing; Rozell's descriptions of his walk along the pipeline are evocative, honest, and often funny. I love how he intersperses the tales of his travel with Alaskan history, and uses the people he meets along the way as springboards to talk about life in the state and how it has changed since the pipeline. All in all, a great read. |
