Lots of great info here. Perennials are what I like to use most in my gardens so this book has come in handy for me. I like that it is written so people at all levels of gardening can read and understand it. The photography is well done. I am sure I shall refer to this book quite often!

The color photographs in this book are wonderful and help you get an idea of what every single perennial mentioned looks like (foliage and flower). There are great indices in the back listing each according to categories including flowering season, sun/shade requirements, height, and flower color. One quibble I have is that Armitage is not consistent in explaining how each perennial propagates. He does indicate plants as being unruly or "land-grabbing" in some cases, but not every plant has an indication of its proclivity to spread beyond the control of a gardener's ability to keep up with it.
