All major sports events and topics from the year are covered and this is a reference that will intrigue all students interested in athletics. Citation of a Review: Cost: $9.50 Relevance and Relationship: The Sports Illustrated Almanac is a book geared toward the male students population at East. Most males at the school are interested in some type of sport, which this book covers extensively. The goal for purchasing books such as this is to increase the male readership. Purpose: The purpose of this book in our library is to get our male students interested in coming to the library, using reference materials, and to eventually check out books and read for fun. The book itself is a wealth of sports information from the past year. Validity: Sports Illustrated, a well-known sports magazine, publishes the book, Sports Illustrated Almanac. The reference book is published annually and in multi-volumes. Format: The text in the print format. Arrangement and Presentation: The book features essays written by top sports writers, facts and statistics on teams and athletes, as well as information about sports stadiums and arenas. Diversity: Any student could be interested in a book such as this, but the goal is for male students, who typically don’t use the library, to come and view this type of book.

It provides regular readers of this yearly almanac sports related information that begins right where the previous edition ended. Purpose: Students can use this reference to look of quick facts or apply their research skills to make comparisons between popular athletes and sports teams over an extended period of time. Validity: Although the information of a yearly almanac does not maintain much permanence, this resource is useful for its timeliness relating to the collection of sports related information. Format: This print format features articles and statistics relating to the most competitive teams and athletes in the world of sports.
