If you've never read Dorothy Day's writings or honestly even if you have, please go do yourself a favor and pick up this book. This brings together various snippets from her books and columns in an epic collection of Dorothy. When read in the Presence of the Lord (as it is named and intended), it will surely transform hearts by facilitating a deep encounter and dialogue.

Captivating exploration of a captivating man! A Catholic monk on mission in India, to wed Hindu wisdom, especially Advaita, with Christian wisdom, in the early post-Vatican II era. Ironically, Abhiskiktanada, being a recluse and inward in orientation, possibly found his revelation of greatest Love, not in a direct immediacy with 'God,' but a human and male companion, whom he shared a deep Union with, beginning shortly before his heart attack and enclosure in care, where he died contented, as the record states. My sense of the ending of this biography, was a sadness that this man, so moved to being apart-with-God, found a togetherness soul-with-soul, body-with-body, arising from this human Union ~ sexual, or not, no record remains to verify ~, then, amid the joy of that sharing, to have been stricken with the heart attack. ~ Cf. Thomas Merton's 'forbidden love affair' near the end of his life, with a nurse with whom he was under hospital care. An excellent read for persons interested in interfaith relations, classical mysticism in the world faiths, or a man daring to go to the precipice from his native faith in faithfulness to its fullness in communion with forbidden wisdom and, possibly, forbidden love.
