Review # 1 was written on 2010-10-13 00:00:00 Paul Gencik This book was worth reading. I agreed strongly with some of what the author had to say. I disagreed strongly with other points. My main criticism was this text was too negative. Phillips focused too much on the examples of what he didn't like about postmodernism, ecocriticism, and environmental history. I wanted to hear about all the good stuff going on. Sometimes his attacks were not incorrect (I'm not fan of the realism reverence in older eco-criticism) but did seem out of date. Maybe I would have enjoyed this book more had I read it the year it was published? |
