Review # 1 was written on 2011-12-31 00:00:00 Kevin Colcord I don't know what first told me about this book, but I looked for it for years. I'm not really a poetry reader, but I really related to these poems. I wasn't a farmer's child, but I was raised by those who were, and there was a feeling of familiarity in almost every line. The photographs were very real to me, too. If I can think of a way to use these words and images in class, I will. The say a lot about what a large portion of America is. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-02-18 00:00:00 Paul Carpenter Joyce Sutphen writes with quiet authority about growing up close to the earth, love, loss, and growing older with joy. |
