I have just reviewed this book for a UK bookeller. I'm not normally a fan of books which fall within the 'comedy' genre as I find they try abit to hard, but this has proved me wrong. It really is a funny read. It had me tittering from the very first page right until the last. Julian Corkle is a fantastic character and his delusional escapades are really well thought out and I really liked the fumbled happy ending. Connell has created a charater who is on par with Adrian Mole and I hope that, like Adrian Mole, there will be more novels which look at his future as I was disappointed when this book ended and wanted to know what the future held. In many ways, the style of this book reminded me of 'Vernon God Little', and like that novel, I could not put it down from the second I started reading. I will be looking out for future Connell offerings and will be passing this novel around all my friends so that they can share in the pleasure that reading this novel brings
