Review # 1 was written on 2020-10-07 00:00:00 Trevor Smith Interesting, but not very compelling. Covered a lot of ground. Perhaps a more in-depth work on fewer subjects would have been better.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-01 00:00:00 Stefano Bertini Good, not great, which is why it rates a 3 on Goodreads, where 3 is "I liked it", which means above average for books. I presume most of us here pick above average books to read. Goetzmann's connecting thesis is that these explorations of what became USA, and other parts of the world, were largely scientific, and I think he over-reaches in that. It is a good overview of USAn exploration, and I did enjoy that.
