Review # 1 was written on 2017-08-05 00:00:00 Stephen Vesecky I have a copy of the first edition of this book, so many of my comments may be obsolete. First, the coverage of reptiles in this guide is incredible! The identification photos are excellent and helpful for identification purposes. The introduction could have been expanded. For example, I was fascinated by the following statement: "North America . . . supports only 280 species, just over one-third of the reptile diversity of Australia." I would have appreciated more hypothesis as to why Australia has such a large number of reptiles, and to be specific, why families such as skinks (370 species) and geckos (111 species) are well represented on the continent. The family introductions are excellent, as are the notes sections for each species. Overall this is a very helpful guide!
