Review # 1 was written on 2012-11-21 00:00:00 Derek Miura This short collections of essays is one of the most cogent assessments of Hitler and Nazi Germany I have read, and I have read a lot. Jäckel manages in 100 pages what others require thousands of pages, offering fresh insights into how Hitler came to power, how he ruled, and his decisions on teh conduct of the war. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-04-03 00:00:00 Perry Swinehart III Soothill's translation of the White Lotus Sutra is rendered in a straightforward style. Unfortunately it is incomplete and contains intrusive interpolations by the translator. The paperback edition was apparently first published in the UK in 1987 but the style reads as if it was translated in the first half of the 20th century by a scholar researching the 'Far East'. Nevertheless it remains a readable introduction to a major Buddhist text. |
