A fascinating set of interviews with 10 Chicana writers spanning from essayist and memoirists to scholars, poets, playwrights and fiction prose writers. Ikas does a fair job asking the questions. The interviews are best when she is letting the Chicana writers talk. Great insights for me, from AnzaldĂșa, Moya, and Moraga. It was also fun learning about the other lesser known (to me) playwrights. Geography is contained to the US Southwest and California which is a limitation of the volume. As is the outsider perspective Ikas brings which is sometimes her strength but often her downfall in the line of questioning. Her interest in exploring the Chicana lit reception in Europe is a valid international project and in doing this work she meaningfully allows for those of us in North America to also benefit.

Good insights from a friend about an author I've cherished.
