This book is about African Americans in aviation(flight/space). It starts off by talking about Bessie Colman, the first African American female pilot. She had to go to France to get her pilot licence which I thought was interesting. Then the book started talking about WW11's triumphes and falures. During that time the govement started a experiment to see if blacks could be pilots for the army. It also talked about black pilots in the battlefield and there successes. After that the book talked about segergation in aviation. The book rapped up with the space age and the first black and the first black female in space. I really liked this book because it had a lot of interesting facts about blacks in aviation. I learned a lot because I knew nothing about blacks in aviation. I didn't know aviation was so segregated, either. This book taught me a lot so I recomend it to anyone.

Black eagles was a well written story by James Haskins reminding us that there weren't just white folk in the avaition history and industry, but also African Americans. In this easy read I found that many African Americans went througha lot just to go to an airshow let alone be a pilot. Many of them risking their lives to be in the industry. I would recomend this book to anyone who enjoys African American history and aviation/flight.
