Review # 1 was written on 2014-06-20 00:00:00 Curtis Robinson I am a pastor for a MC Canada congregation. Currently I am Licensed Toward Ordination, one stage in the ordination process. I began reading MPML in hopes of gaining a clearer understanding of the ordination process as well as MC Canada/MCUSA polity in general. But MPML is anything but clear. MPML arose during the merger between the Mennonite Church and the General Conference as an attempt to show how their established polities would mesh together. This results, however, in a text bogged in denominational jargon and intricacies. A newcomer to the MC Canada/MCUSA (like myself) has a difficult time finding their feet. But even if you can wade through the jargon, the core of MPML offers less guidance or explanation than bare bones constitutional definition. I'm sure there's a needed place for this, but it certainly isn't on my bookshelf. I'm looking forward to the forthcoming rework of MC Canada polity. Hopefully it will keep its users in mind more than its drafting committees. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-06-05 00:00:00 Fedora Dinarzo I have to try and read to completion one book by Plato. That will give real meaning to my reading life. Well, I completed this book today and now will try another one, perhaps Crito. There are some great arguments in this book and I believe a couple of famous phrases too, but I don't want to spoil things for others. |
