Review # 1 was written on 2013-09-07 00:00:00 Alisandratou Dionisia A charming, beautifully illustrated story with a similar feel to the Berenstain Bears. Although I loved those stories as a kid, I would've been infinitely more attached if they'd been this adorable family of foxes instead. Unlike the Berenstain Bears, though, there's no real moral to this story. The kids don't learn their lesson by the end, or vow to treat each other more kindly. It's a more accurate depiction of a sibling relationship, where the fighting and arguing and petty disagreements accompany cheerful playtime and genuine friendship. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-01-15 00:00:00 Jacob Martino I bought this years ago at a workshop and I love this twist on the classic 3 little pigs. This version is told in rhyme and takes place after the original. THe 3 little pigs are hiding out in the brick house, refusing to leave and be eaten by the big, bad wolf. Then their sister, the daring Pig 4, arrives and does what it takes to get them to leave the house and go explore the world. I love the rhyme pattern, the strong female character, and the lesson at the end. My students always enjoy hearing this version after hearing the original. |
