Review # 1 was written on 2007-09-06 00:00:00 David Weil Ok, I'm biased. Let's be clear. My MOM wrote this book (although, Goodreads has somehow failed to credit all authors... note goodreads: Co-author: Cynthia W. Taylor, please add). But the thing is, I'm not about to talk up something just because my Mom did it. This is a great book. If you're interested in the history of the Appalachian region and especially basketmaking, you will be astounded with this book. Into this book went 10 years of research and scouring the mountains for basketmaking families. It's a blend of historical account and details of the craft complete with illustrations and photos. Good work, Mom.

Having been granted "librarian" status on goodreads, I am excited and honored to serve my fellow readers by correcting spurious data around this website. I shall not take this responsibility lightly. And I am delighted that the first action I've taken in this role has been to banish the "goodreads forgot to list an author" shelf from my list of shelves, by crediting the forgotten authors myself.
