Review # 1 was written on 2012-05-31 00:00:00 Sharon Craig Terrific book with lots of color photos of gas stations. Interesting introductory history of gas stations; when did gas stations go from servicing cars to being convenience stores; how the increase in women drivers led to clean rest rooms? Most of the book devotes 2 pages to each of many stations from around the state. Photos from the heyday, current photos of adaptive reuse; interesting interviews and info gleaned from newspaper articles. I like this book a lot; if I were handing out a local history award, this book would get it. I recommend this book to those interested in all things automotive, history, and architecture. |
