Review # 1 was written on 2017-01-24 00:00:00 Otilia I. Aparicio Serrano The author, Olga Litvak, was my thesis advisor, and she is one of the most brilliant and extraordinary people I have ever met. Therefore, I have the happy notion that her book is going to be just as wonderful as she is, and so far, she has done me proud! While on the surface it seems a nich-interest topic, her discussion of how literature and stories shape a people's cultural and historical idenity is rich with meaning and brings literary and historical analysis to a whole new level of understanding.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-04-25 00:00:00 Mariaelena Mendoza Cohn-Sherbok provided a very good survey of the history of Anti-Semitism from Graeco-Roman times through the present. It is a testiment to the Jewish people that we have survived threats from the successor states of Alexander the Great to the present. However, his lack of footnotes is rather annoying. I would like to know where he got some of the stories, ancedotes, statistics, etc. I probably live in a shettlered universe but I don't see the same level of Anti-Semitism in American cultural and political arenas that Cohn-Sherbok does. Therefore, I am not as pessimistic as he seems to be about this country. Since Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson have fallen from their once, the level of Anti-Semitism from the African-American community appears to be much much lower than it was in the 1980s and 1990s. I definitely share his views of the disturbng level of Anti-Semitism in the Arab and Islamic world. However, unlike this author, I am not willing to put all of the blame on the Muslims.
