This is only useful if you know NOTHING about Korean history. It is nicely laid out and you can get a clear sense of the different eras and...that's it. There are no real details. It's full of sweeping generalizations, not-so-subtle opinions, and no facts or sources to back them up. Imagine if I wrote about the American revolution like this: "The greedy British forced the helpless colonists to pay many unfair taxes. After many events of rebellion the Americans signed the Declaration of Independence in 1775. They wrote many new laws which were essential to the development of the United States. " Ridiculous, right? Notice how I added some adjectives to show how I feel about the British? Notice how I called them 'colonists' in one sentence but 'Americans' in the next? Notice how you have no idea what actually happened even though what I wrote was technically true? This book is almost 150 pages of that. At least it looks nice though.

Read and keep (if you have a need to know Korean History). This book is not interestingly written. It reads slightly better than a timeline or picture captions. No analysis of history is done. It does provide a brief summary of Korean history and is useful to that end. The printing and pictures are good so it is useful to that end as well. It is a good first-step to learning Korean history.
