Review # 1 was written on 2012-02-21 00:00:00 Justin Moe not certain that i'm reading quite the same version, but it seems to be the same, though it comes under the heading of 'art fantastix', well anyway the art is well fantastic....though not literally, there's nothing genuinely fantastical about it, quite the opposite it is hyper realistic, or realistic in an airbrushed, made up, and plastic surgeoned kind of way but technically its incredible, technically i say because artistically speaking, though the subject matter is quite beautiful, in a 'glamour' kind of way, the art itself, is not necessarily all that artistic, the most interesting examples are those that strongly show the brush strokes and pencil lines, overly smooth photo-realistic art has never appealed to me all that much, i like my art rougher. p.s though this is meant to be erotic art, it is merely titillating rather than actually sexual, and on the subject of the sexual, jon hul, despite what the foreword says, does not show in this art and great understanding of female sexuality, not that i claim such expertise myself, but i know enough to know that this sort of smooth perfected titillation, fun as it may be, is not representative of anyone's genuine innate sexuality. |
