Sunny illustrations follow an adorable rabbit as it identifies signs that spring has arrived and then proceeds to tell others. They, in turn, spread the word to other animals. The use of rhyming text and simple words makes this one work well for beginning readers who may also enjoy identifying the signs in their own environment that are indicators that spring has sprung. The book also contains some activities and questions for youngsters to ponder as they hear it read aloud. Part of the Story Play series, this one is a reissue of a previously-published book but with prompts intended to develop comprehension and some critical thinking skills. Plus, they're learning a little bit about science from its pages.

When I picked up the book "It's Spring," I thought it was going to be kinda boring because of the cover, but I changed my mind as I began to read it and discovered that it has discussion questions built into the book, and other educational information like scavenger hunts, riddle time, springtime fund, and matching inside.
