Review # 2 was written on 2008-06-30 00:00:00 Tracy Ebbert An unfortunately forgotten though only sometimes dated work of socialist feminist cultural criticism/sociology. I always appreciate Barrett's depth and range of theoretical insight and uncompromising radicalism. The polemic definitely centers around mid/late-20th century white anglo-american experiences of "the family" and the authors are often daft with regards to race, but Barrett and McIntosh are the first to recognize their own cultural and historical ideological embeddedness.
