Review # 1 was written on 2020-07-17 00:00:00 Armando Campos The most difficult read I have ever conquered. I have discovered I am NOT a philosopher. I had to reread every essay five times to even glimpse an understanding of the eight religions in this book. However; I did find it rather fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed learning the history and beliefs of other religions. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-07-23 00:00:00 Jason Mccomb This is an anthology of mostly papers from the 1960s-1980s on the subject of the use of psychedelic mushrooms in ancient times in ancient Greek and Indo-Iranian religion. The first paper is a summary of Wasson's book _Soma_. Most of the conclusions are pretty speculative and not necessarily backed up by field methods from anthropology. It is mostly based on textual analysis and folklore. |
