Review # 1 was written on 2018-08-05 00:00:00 Matthew Boston This book is basically a collection of primary sources edited down to spotlight mainly the military career aspects of the life of Edward, The Black Prince. These are the voices of the distant past: partisan and pious. It requires no modern historian to inform the reader of these medieval chronicles that chivalry, for all its glorious trappings, was a dark and destructive business and that horrors were perpetrated for the honour of kings and the glory of God. It's sometimes very useful to hear these echoes of another age. They remind us how far we've come and sometimes how far we still have to go.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-08-02 00:00:00 Rick Allen not really my thing. basically descriptions of battles told over and over from different sources. sounds like they mostly ran around the countryside looting and setting fire to the place, looking for the other guy's army to fight. I kept thinking about the poor people getting their crops wiped out by both sides.
