1. Personal reaction- I really enjoyed this book because it provided quick and easy information about stars. I really enjoyed this book because it provided various information about stars. It included information about the brightness and navigation of stars. It then went into further detail discussing planets, meteors, comets, gravity, and galaxies. I enjoyed the wide variety and topics that were provided all on the one concept of stars. 2. purpose- This would be a great book to read during a science unit on stars. This book would be a great way to get students interested in the topic of stars and will provide them with quick information about all that stars have to offer. Students will be provided with information on stars specifically, but also information about space. This is a great book to read to students to help them understand the basics of stars and their environment of outer space. This book would be a great independent read for students who have an interest in stars and even outer space. Students with this interest will gain knowledge about the basics about stars and even a brief understanding of outer space and other concepts including gravity, comets, planets, etc. This book would be appropriate for younger grade levels, 2nd or 3rd grade. The book uses similes specifically to teach students information. Student will be able to understand the information presented in the book because of the easy comparisons, for example, "blue giants are so huge and so hot that they beam out like a lighthouse, putting every other star in the shade." This book provides an index at the end of the book to help students refer back to the book and be able to find exactly where a concept, term, or event was discussed in the book. The book also provides captions under each picture. The captions provide one sentence giving a brief description of what the picture is about. The book also provides true and false questions throughout the book to test student's knowledge and comprehension they have gained from reading the book. At the end of the book, the answers to the true and false questions are provided. 3.The language in the book was very straightforward but when a word was used that could bring confusion to the readers, it was clearly explained. I thought the layout of the information was presented in a way that was acceptable for all age groups. The information was set up into bullet point format labeled as 1, 2, 3,… This allowed for the information to be easily read and comprehended.

Can be used for grades 1-4, when discussing the Planets/Solar System. This book is about a class that went to outerspace to learn about other planets. After visiting other plants they were happy to be back on earth and realized that they had a great teacher because she carried them away on a magic school bus.
